[SLE] CanonBJC4300 w/WordPerfect8 using SuSE 6.2?
I've been trying to get my printer working with WordPerfect8 using SuSE 6.2. Is there a sample configuration file anywhere that I could use as a model? K-5, PR-166, 48 Mb ram, 2x10gig & 1x1.2gig hd Jaton 57-P video card Canon BJC-4300 printer It seems like WordPerfect is maybe sending a WordPerfect file to ghost script and that's not working. I really don't know what is going on. I would really like to print my choice of 1 up, 2 up, 4 up with the additional choice of 2 sided printing enabled/disabled. How do I do this? How can I get more free fonts that ghostscript can use? -- Jeff French this signature file made with vim For the best Linux reading list click: http://wwww.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/Reading-List-HOWTO.html -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

Sorry, don't have a direct answer. But you might want to look at the following URL's: Linkname: Un*x printer compatibility database listing URL: http://www.picante.com/~gtaylor/pht/printer_list.cgi?predef=CJ Linkname: Linux WordPerfect Fonts & Printers URL: http://www.channel1.com/users/rodsmith/wpfonts.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------- John Karns jkarns@csd.net -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
I might have missed your original post, so I don't know exactly your problem. I have BJC-4300 and SuSE 6.2 and it is printing without problems. What I did was to chose "passthrough postscript" driver from the list of printers in the Word Perfect printer list and connect it to 'lp'. I remember some people had problems using their printer with other applications when they installed the printer from the WordPerfect. Now when printing I am using the 'lp'printer, and it works. On linux my printer uses drivers for canon 600 (I think). Hope it will help. bodek -----Original Message----- From: John Karns [mailto:jkarns@csd.net] Sent: Wednesday, December 22, 1999 10:15 AM To: Jeff French Cc: suse-linux-e@suse.com Subject: Re: [SLE] CanonBJC4300 w/WordPerfect8 using SuSE 6.2? Hi Jeff, What you need to do is in the WP print window is select "add a printer" (I believe this is the right name). Follow thru the windows until you get a list of printer drivers. Check if you have a driver for your canon. If not take the "passthru PS" driver. That will send PS style commands to ghostscript and it will then print. On Mon, 20 Dec 1999, Jeff French wrote:

In WP look under page setup, I'm not in X at the moment so I can't be sure what the title is. But under page setup you should find all this. At the command line you'll need to look at the man file for ghostscript.
How can I get more free fonts that ghostscript can use?
Try these sites maybe there you can find something. www.fontaddict.com ftp.gimp.org/pub/gimp/fonts/freefontsC0.10.tar.gz ftp.gimp.org/pub/gimp/fonts/sharefontsC0.10.tar.gz www.users.fast.net/~rodsmith/wpfonts.html Hope this helps!
