[opensuse] Audio snippets in Firefox?
I'm trying to brush up on my Russian (my daughter-in-law is Russian, and is teaching her children to talk in her language). All the language sites have speech snippets in .au and .wav formats. Firefox and Konqueror both want to open an application (kaffeine, vlc, or mplayer, depending on which is associated) for each snippet. I'm sure I remember clicking on such snippets and just hearing the sounds under Windows, and I seem to remember in the distant past having heard them under linux, too. What kind of plugin or whatever do I need to install and configure? Thanks for any help. Any of the players you mention will do the job, but I think what is also necessary is to select the player you want for the file you are about to open/play. That is, right-click on the file (in Dolphin, say) go to Properties, left-click on the lill spanner icon and select the application with which the file will be opened the next time you want to play it. I think you *may* also find that some action is already assigned to the file but the one which you want is not shown as the first choice; just highlight your choice and move it up to the first position.
