[opensuse] updater missing backend
I have upgraded from 10.3 to 11.0. I am using KDE3;5 and the updater complains that no backend plugin is installed and I should please install one. Can someone tell me what backend plugin I should install i.e. the name of the package please? Or some other way to resolve this. Thanks very much Eddie -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
Hi all, When trying to install OpenSUSE 11 64-bit on a virtual machine in VMWare 1.0.6, I get an error prompt (see attachment) when trying to create 'the repository'. Any ideas ? Diego

How did you mount the drive for the install into the the Virtual machine? Are you using the DVD itself or did you just tell Vmware to use the iso image? (Iso image is easier if you ask me, and less prone to fighting the host os for the drive. -- ----------JSA--------- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I used a burnt DVD via mounted drive. But Bingo. ISO works (I remember now that this is always a better approach, as you mention). Thanks ! -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Eddie I had the same problem. This may work for you in you have KDE4 installed as well. I tried a KDE4 session on my normal KDE3.5 login and the Updater found the backends okay. I then logged out and logged back in using my normal KDE3.5 session and it was fixed. Hope it works for you. See if there's an /etc/zypp/zypp.conf.rpmnew . If so, replace /etc/zypp/zypp.conf with it (or merge the two). -- Benjamin Weber -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
