![](https://seccdn.libravatar.org/avatar/7891b1b1a5767f4b9ac1cc0723cebdac.jpg?s=120&d=mm&r=g)
I'm installing leap423 for testing as a xen host. I get gtk3 stuff installed?? For instance: gtk3-immodule-amharic gtk3-immodule-inuktitut gtk3-immodule-thai gtk3-immodule-vietnamese more gtk3 stuff Trying to remove gtk3-data tells me: libgtk-3-0-3.20.10-9.1.x86_64 is needed, trying to remove that: qemu-x86-2.9.0-32.4.x86_64 needs libgtk ?? I guess the latter is fine, but overall the installation drags a few unneeded gtk3 packages along too. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (8.1°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - virtual servers, made in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Those are pulled in by supplements, so you should be able to remove and lock them.
more gtk3 stuff
Trying to remove gtk3-data tells me:
libgtk-3-0-3.20.10-9.1.x86_64 is needed,
trying to remove that:
qemu-x86-2.9.0-32.4.x86_64 needs libgtk ??
Well, one of possible console drivers is implemented using gtk, so that's correct.
I guess the latter is fine, but overall the installation drags a few unneeded gtk3 packages along too.

Yep, I did.

Ah, console drivers. Okay.
I guess the latter is fine, but overall the installation drags a few unneeded gtk3 packages along too.
What is dragging in the rest of the gtk3 stuff - recommends? -- Per Jessen, Zürich (3.4°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - dedicated server rental in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

They are pulled in by error :). AFAIK there is a open bug, since openSUSE 13.1 or so. They can be removed and blocked without problems unless you use one of these languages. I stumbled over this a long time ago, and those packages are blocked on all my boxes for ages. BTW, when you have gtk2-immodule-amharic etc, you can block them as well. That's certainly possible. Condition to install them is "gtk3 and corresponding language". I do not know how exactly "language requested by user" is represented in libsolv, I /think/ that something must provide locale(am) (as example), but on my 42.3 nothing provides it still these packages are installed.

Do you happen to have the number? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

They have been a nuisance inclusion among my zypper locks for years. There's nothing I can do with CJK lang, glyph or locale. I use none of Gnome/GTK that isn't required by Mozilla apps. en_US is the entirety of my vocabulary. # zypper ll ... 56 | gtk2-immodule* | package | (any) 57 | gtk3-immodule* | package | (any)

Do you happen to have the number? I looked. Only https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=799571 among last 60 months' activity contains string immodule in summary. Changing search to gtk* components and immodule in comments times out or produces other fatal BZ errors. -- "Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Whatever else you get, get wisdom." I have two xen hosts on 13.2, no gtk modules installed. No qemu either, looks like xen-tools didn't need it back then. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (2.9°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - virtual servers, made in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
