I have a Seagate Travan 4/8GB SCSI tape drive which boots up as st0. I have been trying to use KDat to backup the system. When I bring up the KDat window and click on mount drive, it says there is no tape in the drive. There is a tape inserted in the drive. When a tape needs format, after formatting it will indicate that there is a tape installed. I can not get it to recognize that a formated tape is inserted in the drive. The KDat help isn't much help on this one. Other than the preference button on the KDat window, I can find no configuration file for KDat Have preferences set to: tape size = 4GB tape block size = 512 bytes tape device = dev/st0 tar command = /bin/tar Would like to get this working. Any help or suggestions would be appricated. I'd just drop KDat. I seems to have quite a few bugs and doesn't work with a number of tape drives. Thanks Philipp I drop it. I do have another question. Can the tape drive be entered into fstab so that it can be mounted like the floppy and cd's are? If so how do you enter it into fstab?
