Hi. I want to use the wave sound from OutLook Express in Windows to be implemented in the Netscape7.1 mailer. Whats the name of the sound_file, and where can it be obtained, and when it has been that where to place it in a 8.2 system ?. Talk about the Netscape's mailer, I have the | tilde as my quotation mark. I want to have the ">", and have asked for it before, but cannot find it in the mailinglist for this forum her. AFAIK it has to be done somewhere under preferences, but my memory has a big whole where the content is poppin out of :-) Erik.

Use Windows File Search program to search for .wav, then you will get the path to the files you need. Copy the files to wherever you want in SuSE. In the email program go to Edit --> Preferences --> Mail & Newsgroups --> Notifications choose Custom waw file and Browse to the file you want.

Did you mean ~ (tilde) or | (pipe)? If you choose plaintext as your default send format doesn't the quotation mark change to > then? Cheers, HÖ -- /// Helgi Örn Helgason, Registered Linux User: #189958 \\\ \\\ ~~~~ SuSE 8.2 * Kernel 2.4.20-4GB * KDE 3.1.4 ~~~~ ///

Hi Helgi. Thanks for the reply. I found the file -notify.wav, and copied it to a directory here. If I'm i nc, and place the cursor on it and type enter, the sound is being heard. But it doesn't give the sound if a mail arrives. Maybe it has something to do with the permission: -rw-r--r-- 1 erik root 119384 May 5 1999 notify.wav

I mean pipe, and it has been solved as you explain it. regards, Erik.

What is nc?

Hmmm... Are you running the system as root? The file is owned by root, you can change that to user: $chown username notify.wav to see if it changes anything. Cheers, HÖ -- /// Helgi Örn Helgason, Registered Linux User: #189958 \\\ \\\ ~~~~ SuSE 8.2 * Kernel 2.4.20-4GB * KDE 3.1.4 ~~~~ ///
