Hi everyone I have just switched to suse 7.3 pro from red hat 7.2 last weekend and was wondering if suse have a program similar to red hat rawhide. I have a lot of software in srpm and cant seem to build it due to different locations, etc
The closest SuSE seems to get is the kernels in the "mantel" directory. Just _where_ that is on the ftp site, I can't recall, someone else might. I don't seem to have kept any of those mails which mention the URL. OTOH, SuSE does employ Andrea Arcangeli, who maintains his own bleeding edge kernel. Again, messages from lkml bearing that URL seem to all be gone from my machine, but searching the list will certainly turn them up. For general software packages, SuSE does not seem to provide CVS/alpha versions of things. A conservatism which really does pay off in the end. Go to the individual projects you are interested in and build from source, if you want to be experimental. Cheers. Andrea is also the person who was instrumental in the new VM :) And Hubert Mantel is a founder of SuSE so I think he's pretty kernel savvy ;) -----=====-----=====-----=====-----=====----- Ben Rosenberg mailto:ben@whack.org -----=====-----=====-----=====-----=====----- "Technological progress is like an axe in the hands of a pathological criminal" -AE
