Does pppoe client come with 7.3 or 8.0?

Does SuSE 7.3 or 8.0 come with its own pppoe client? If it does, is it still a good idea to use the client from Roaring Penguin? Thanks -- dj tuchler dtuchler@earthlink.net

Yeah, it came with the pppoe, under the ppp in hte TCP sub menu. Is easy, you must to add in /etc/ppp/pap-secrest and /etc/ppp/chap-secrets and modify one file more and ready. The documentation is very very easy.

Thanks for the information. I went to Yast2 and noticed (for the first time!) the ADSL menu. It is set up to deliver pppoe, buit doesn't tell me to do anything to a file or add anything. Where do I "add in /etc/ppp/pap-secret and /etc/ppp/chap-secrets"? and which file do I modify (and how)? Thanks again -- dj tuchler dtuchler@earthlink.net

Check this files, you must to put your login and password in both files. After, you enter in /etc/ppp/peers/ exist only one file, open it and change the values that are necesary, like your mtu, mru and other (only if you need to do it) and put you login (the same that pap-secrets) After, enter in /etc/rc.d/pppoed and modify this files and put your ethernet adapter. Example, is is eth1, in the line where appear eth0 change to eth1, in the START tab. Save and do: /etc/rc.d/pppoed start your conection is up. to stop: /etc/rc.d/pppoed stop If you have a GSM, you can write me: +584124417656 I will go to my lunch at mid day.
Thanks again
