Need for an updated gstreamer-plugins-default package?
I am using the install-apt4suse-0.2.3-1 system for getting updates using apt-get. The sources.list contains: rpm ftp://ftp4.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt SuSE/10.0-i386 suser-guru rpm ftp://ftp4.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt SuSE/10.0-i386 rpmkeys rpm ftp://ftp4.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt SuSE/10.0-i386 base rpm ftp://ftp4.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt SuSE/10.0-i386 java rpm ftp://ftp4.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt SuSE/10.0-i386 update rpm ftp://ftp4.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt SuSE/10.0-i386 extra rpm ftp://ftp4.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt SuSE/10.0-i386 suser-jogley rpm ftp://ftp4.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt SuSE/10.0-i386 packman rpm ftp://ftp4.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt SuSE/10.0-i386 packman-i686 rpm ftp://ftp4.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt SuSE/10.0-i386 wine rpm ftp://ftp4.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt SuSE/10.0-i386 security Installation dependency not met: gstreamer-plugins-default: Depends: libmplex2-1.6.so.0 Current mjpegtools provides: /usr/lib/libmplex2-1.8.so.0 I guess there needs to be an updated gstreamer-plugins-default package? It's not me, I do have gstreamer and gstreamer-plugins-* packages in my repository, but not for 10.0 (the RPMs shipped with 10.0 are up-to-date, would be pointless).

mjpegtools comes from both "packman" and "base". You should downgrade your "mjpegtools" package to the one that's shipped with "base" (1.6.2 instead of packman's 1.8.0). cheers - -- -o) Pascal Bleser http://linux01.gwdg.de/~pbleser/ /\\ <pascal.bleser@skynet.be> <guru@unixtech.be> _\_v The more things change, the more they stay insane. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.0 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFDMk5qr3NMWliFcXcRArcbAJ9wYD0nV/lP6DFHV69O3ci0MfvCYwCfazxy 0SsnsFP7R82BXEKnQen4Iic= =SzZA -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

Yes, SUSE can't be expected to updated a package to build against an unofficial externally-provided package. Also, you should remove suser-jogley from your sources.lists - I've deprecated it and the packages it used to contain are now in usr-local-bin. -- James Ogley james@usr-local-bin.org Packages for SUSE: http://usr-local-bin.org/rpms Make Poverty History: http://makepovertyhistory.org

BTW, here's how to downgrade it with apt: apt-get install mjpegtools=1.6.2

Indeed.
