All, Checking this morning and the official NVidia repo has now been updated: https://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/tumbleweed/ (G04 - G06 available, if needed G03 are in the repo posted earlier) Many thanks to those working to keep the drivers updated. Hopefully going forward we can put a pin in this topic for TW and see if we can coordinate patches and updates for the driver to track kernel updates in TW a bit more closely. Otherwise, TW users risk updating into an unusable install. And nobody wants to rely on a lawyer that dabbles in tech to scrounge for patches and hope he can string them together correctly in buildservice :) Let's hope the 6.11 update requires little in the way of patching.... -- David C. No doubt about that, 'been experiencing the disturbance in the force for like 6 months; my advice is get rid of nvidia cards. I've made 2 mistakes in my life: the 1st one was my 2nd breath, the 2nd one was my 1st nvidia card.

No doubt about that, 'been experiencing the disturbance in the force for like 6 months; my advice is get rid of nvidia cards. I've made 2 mistakes in my life: the 1st one was my 2nd breath, the 2nd one was my 1st nvidia card.
Especially the problems with older nVidia cards (G04) and Linux are sometimes daunting. Are AMD drivers and eco system better for newer and older AMD graphic cards?

There were always some problems but from my point of view the almost perpetually and at times extremely slow or even timed-out downloads from the nvidia servers were unacceptable. Then with the arrival of kernel 6.10 other isues arose so I went to a used AMD card. That card crapped out and having nothing else I put back a stby nvidia. More problems. There comes a time when one just pulls the plug.

I plugged a second (also used) AMD Radeon-Hd5700 in and *it just works*, I don't really know if that's considered an older card since my familiarity with AMD gpu's is about zero.

Maybe twenty years ago there was a range of AMD cards that stopped being supported, considered old, which left many people stranded, and people hated AMD. I don't remember the name, but there are people here that probably do. Radeon? I had Nvidia at the time. But then, maybe 10 years ago they decided to support open source, and things changed for the better. The included drivers in the distro work very well, so much that one can ignore the proprietary driver (life is easier). Proprietary drivers do exist, but for instance I have not even tried them. On the other hand, Nvidia stopped proprietary support of my relatively old nvidia card (Geforce 9500GT). I don't know if there are non supported AMD cards. THAT was when I moved to nvidia because the early 'ATI' cards were a nightmare with Linux. All that changed *I think* when AMD got into the act but I wasn't really following the scene around that time.
