Hos to install fonts into LibreOffice without adding them to the system
Seems there are differing ideas for Ubuntu but this is Leap 15.2 updated routinely. one idea is /home/<user>/.local/share/fonts the other is /usr/share/fonts though I do not have a fonts directory here presently. Some mention of fc-cache -fv. I have about 3k fonts and no desire to slow down the system by installing them in the system especially the speciality fonts for holidays etc which will only ever be used in OpenOffice on the older systems and LibreOffice on the Leap system. Carl, I have handled this in a couple of different ways. Old way was just to add to /usr/share/fonts (generally in /truetype) Later I got tired of always having to add to the system, so I just kept my selection in /usr/local/share/fonts (I only have /truetype) font-config will scan /usr/local by default if I recall correctly, so it just provided a convenient and separate directory to use for system-wide fonts. There is a good discussion covering many ways to handle this (and much more) at: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Font_configuration -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.

This appears to load the fonts into the entire system. I want them only in LibreOffice. Speciality fonts like ChristmasLights or Klingon would not look correct on system programs.
