Can you boot into rescue CD ? It has the reiserfs tools. The latest reiserfs tools are available from namesys.com. Just make sure they are used on an unmounted file system. Brian Marr On Saturday 24 August 2002 22:33, Sean Rima wrote:

I tried the CD based as well but could not use a floppy that contained the lastest reiserfsck program. I use a floppy distro and sorted it in the end that way. Sean
I was able to run reiserfsck after booting the SuSE CD and clicking on rescue. Most likely the rescue floppy does not contain reiserfsck tools. You may need to copy it to another diskette, after booting, mount that diskette, and copy reiserfsck to your /sbin directory (which is in ramdisk). On 24 Aug 2002 at 13:03, Sean Rima wrote:

I never tried the CD, have to admit that I forgot about it, I used, in the end, a floppy distro and I fixed it :) Sean - -- Sean Rima http://www.tcob1.net Linux User: 231986 Jabber: tcobone@jabber.org THE VIEWS EXPRESSED HERE ARE NOT NECESSARILY THOSE OF MY WIFE. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.7 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Use GPG for Secure Mail iD8DBQE9aqfiHMnSWn2nApQRAqe9AKCqzYZgjd2zWUf7IgxgH9WD9+mlhwCgoexx fOYUf1objA0dKii32tjYmrk= =13AB -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
I usually make a set of boot floppies because my desktop system does not boot from the SCSI CD. But, there are always ways to get this accomplished. Glad you were able to repair the problem. A few months ago, I had a problem with a corrupt Reiser FS on my laptop coupled with a problem where neither the CD/DVD nor floppy were recognized by the BIOS. The corruption was caused by a bad memory module, and the DVD/floppy issue solved by reseating the cables in the detachable wedge. On 26 Aug 2002 at 23:12, Sean Rima wrote:
