[opensuse] Names of standard folders in own home directory are in other language
Hello everyone, The installation of Opensuse 15.0 was done in a diferent language than mine. After installation I changed the packages to my language. Everything went ok, except my home directory which remains in the installation language. How can I change it? Plasma KDE 5.12.6 Thanks in advance Josep M Solé -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Do you mean the names of the folders like Desktop, photos etc.? If it's that go to KDE-Systemsettings -> personal information -> Applications -> Places (my translation from my german install). There are the path names for the standard folders and you can simply change them (and as far as I remember, create new ones and import from the old ones). -- Daniel Bauer photographer Basel Málaga https://www.patreon.com/danielbauer http://www.daniel-bauer.com -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Done. It has worked in some way, but some folders have disappeared although they really are in my home directory. There is no way to create new paths/folders from KDE systemsettings. Actually, the missing folders are not very relevant to me (Templates and Public) but I would like to know how to get them there properly. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks again. I did it but no changes. Beside this, I noticed that "user-dirs.locale" does not have the right language and I guess that this might be the problem. How can I change this? Too bad.

Did "xdg-user-dirs-update --force" actually recreate "user-dirs.locale"? It should, but could you check its timestamp to be sure?
How can I change this?
Looking at the source code of xdg-user-dirs-update, it queries the LC_MESSAGES category and removes everything including and after the dot. So, what does the "locale" command tell you? Could I delete simply these folders?

You can delete the inactive ones, or symlink to the active ones. Pictures --> Imágenes This one I created because some program ignored the locale and created the English directory. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from openSUSE 15.0 (Legolas))

Yes, this time it has been recreated. There is a new timestamp.
And does it contain the correct language now?

As long as they are empty, I think so.
