don't forget to install kernel source. on my experience, it wanted to check the nvidia ftp site, but my computer didn't connect to the Internet. i just followed the next instruction. then it works fine. now, i can play pingus :) fyi, my machine is amd athlon 900 and geforce 2mx vgacard. don't forget to read the nvidia drive readme to edit x86config file. page writes:

This means that the nvidia installer cannot find a kernel module (driver) that will match the running kernel. You will need to install the kernel sources and get the updates with YOU. Then go into /usr/src/linux and as root issue a cloneconfig. Now go back to where you are trying to install the nvidia drivers and try again. It should give you the same errors but should be able to build a driver that will work before it is done. Marshall
