That's right folks, I've finally got a package of Mozilla 1.2.x built with GTK2 up on www.usr-local-bin.org - this is in preparation for building Galeon 1.3.1, the latest build of Galeon's GNOME2 port. Highlights include: * Flash 6 plugin beta * built with GCC 2 so Java works correctly :) * GNOME2 menu integration * GNOME2 font inheritance, and in Classic theme, GTK2 theme colour inheritance. D'oh! OK, this is now sorted, it's the SuSE.jeo.2 builds you'll want :) -- James Ogley, Webmaster, Rubber Turnip james@rubberturnip.org.uk http://www.rubberturnip.org.uk Jabber: riggwelter@myjabber.net Using Free Software since 1994, running GNU/Linux (SuSE 8.1) GNOME updates for SuSE: http://www.usr-local-bin.org

OK, thanks, Ogley. You'll also want to fix the link to the SRPM: http://www.usr-local-bin.org/mozilla/mozilla-1.2-SuSE.jeo.1.src.rpm sed "s/jeo\.1/jeo.2/" At any rate, the RPM works beautifully. It "feels" much briskier than the default Mozilla from SuSE 8.1. Java 1.4.1 works as well. Question: Is there a particular reason you've decided to compile for i386? After all, SuSE 8.1 is compiled for i586. At any rate, I'm trying to rebuild the SRPM, but I get some stupid error that "sendfile.h cannot be used with _FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64". Look like I have to play around with my CFLAGS... Anyway, a big thanks! -- Karol Pietrzak <noodlez84@earthlink.net> PGP KeyID: 3A1446A0

Yeah, that was my feeling too, I thnk GTK2 generally is nippier than GTK1. So much for software bloat eh? More features, better performance, now that's what I like ;)

Installed with no problems here (8.1). Very nice :-) Except I now have to fight the fonts into shape - they look rather scrappy ATM :-( Anyone got any good tips for fonts to use? Hmmm, I use 'hooge' as my GTK2 font (it's in one of the font packages on the CDs) I use Times New Roman, Arial, Verdana and Comic Sans MS as my default fonts for web page display, they look fine to me. At some point I'll do an RPM of my replacement for the crippled fetchmsttfonts, using the fonts from corefonts.sf.net -- James Ogley, Webmaster, Rubber Turnip james@rubberturnip.org.uk http://www.rubberturnip.org.uk Jabber: riggwelter@myjabber.net Using Free Software since 1994, running GNU/Linux (SuSE 8.1) GNOME updates for SuSE: http://www.usr-local-bin.org

That would be great! If you're making it for 8.1, be shure to make cabextract a dependency. cheers, Marcel

Yup, I know ;) For anyone who doesn't know, you can get cabextract from http://sourceforge.net/projects/corefonts -- James Ogley, Webmaster, Rubber Turnip james@rubberturnip.org.uk http://www.rubberturnip.org.uk Jabber: riggwelter@myjabber.net Using Free Software since 1994, running GNU/Linux (SuSE 8.1). I had to revert back to the old install. I also couldn't change the theme because of a goofy SuSE gnome2 issue with it's control centre not being able to start some deps. The default GTK2 fonts as far as Mozilla is concerned are just plain ugly. :) Anyway..thanks for doing all the good work at usr-local-bin. :) -- Ben Rosenberg ---===---===---===--- mailto:ben@whack.org Tell me what you believe.. No problems of this sort here, so it can't be a simple problem with the mozilla rpm. Did you mean mozilla themes or gtk themes? Both work here.

And Java didn't work - I had to put the link to the java plugin manually. I might have had java in a non-standard place, though, I suppose (/usr/java/j2re1.4.1_01/plugin/i386/ns610). Yeah, for plugin linking, it assumes they're in place as installed from the CDs, same as the SuSE packages do. -- James Ogley, Webmaster, Rubber Turnip james@rubberturnip.org.uk http://www.rubberturnip.org.uk Jabber: riggwelter@myjabber.net Using Free Software since 1994, running GNU/Linux (SuSE 8.1) GNOME updates for SuSE: http://www.usr-local-bin.org
