[SLE] Printing from Acrobat
I use Acrobat 7.0.1 under SuSE 10.0 I can't print figures or maps from the Acroread program. When I click on "print", the printer shows that it is collecting data and then just stops. I can't print anything else on that printer until I reboot! Is there some way I can make this work? -- Best regards, Dennis J. You could be exceeding the printer's available memroy. Did you try selecting the "Save Printer Memory" option in the Print dialog? Also, I'm running 7.0.5, also under 10.0, so perhaps upgrading would help, though that's probably a long shot.

I checked "save printer memory". The Data light on my Lexmark Optra E310 flashed for a while, then stopped. nothing happened. After a while, I tried to print something else on the printer, but the data light would not flash, and nothing else happened. I'll update Acrobat to 7.0.5 and see if that works. Thanks for the response to my request for information -- Best regards, Dennis J. It's possible there's a bug in the printer's PostScript and the document you're printing, when converted to PostScript by Reader, is tripping that bug and sending the printer's internal software into a tailspin. You might want to check with Lexmark to see if they have any firmware updates for you printer. Perhaps there's a way to see some sort of diagnostic console or log file. Is this a networked printer, or a USB-connected one? Believe it or not, devices like this that have network connections sometimes run Telnet servers that can be used for maintenance access. Or their may well be a simple HTTP server built in where you can view the device's status. I'm sure the product manual will make it clear if there are any such options for diagnosing this malfunction.
