Re: [SLE] demand dialing w/ wvdial
i tried wvdial.dod and edited some of the entries. the error usually comes
when it encounters the "\" symbol in the pppdparams. i removed these
symbols (thereby resulting in one long line of parameters) and it run
correctly until it reported some more errors. there was the "-detach"
option which it did not recognize so i had to change it to "nodetach".
there was also an entry "wvdial" which of course is not an option in the
pppd i'm using (or any pppd i guess).
after editing the above, i run wvdial.dod, it runs the script, reports the
assigned remote and local ips and waits. when a signal is detected (tcp,
udp . . .) it starts a link and again reports another error like the "chat
script failed".
the portion of wvdial.dod that is supposed to run the chat script goes:
blah . . .blah . . .blah . . .connect "/usr/binwvdial --chat $WVPARAMS"
&>/dev/null &
the above seems to generate the script error. somebody proposed:
connect "/usr/bin/wvdial --chat >/dev/modem

The script has to be run as root I believe....

As per the support database article on using wvdial for demand dialing, I tried to use wvdial.dod, copying it as exactly as possible, but it does not work, giving error messages.
Can anyone suggest how to set up demand dialing?
