[opensuse] Keyring LED/USB flash with Insignia NS-KEYXX10
I've just acquired a bunch of key-rings with LED displays for holding photos etc. They are USB devices, and present themselves as follows: usb 4-1: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 3 usb 4-1: new device found, idVendor=0168, idProduct=3011 usb 4-1: new device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3 usb 4-1: Product: TP-6801 USB Chip usb 4-1: Manufacturer: technology, inc. usb 4-1: SerialNumber: General Purpose USB usb 4-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice scsi8 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices usb-storage: device found at 3 usb-storage: waiting for device to settle before scanning scsi 8:0:0:0: CD-ROM Insignia NS-KEYXX10 PQ: 0 ANSI: 2 sr2: scsi3-mmc drive: 40x/40x writer cd/rw xa/form2 cdda tray sr 8:0:0:0: Attached scsi CD-ROM sr2 sr 8:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg4 type 5 It seems pretty weird that the device presents itself as a CD writer? I'm wondering if it might work the same way as some USB (mobile-)modems - at first they act like a CD, then you poke them and they become a modem. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (15.3°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

There are some picture frames supported by libgphoto2 already, which act similar. They however usually piggyback their image uploading in special scsi commands. The USB id above is however not yet in the 2 libgphoto2 picture frame drivers, but perhaps you can mail Hans de Goede <hdegoede@redhat.com> who has written those 2 drivers, perhaps he has an idea. (tell him I sent you ;) Ciao, Marcus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
