I've installed icewm from yast but I cannot seem to access it. Does anyone know how to change the display from kde to icewm? There doesn't seem to be any options in the login screen or the yast sysconfig editor that lists it as a choice for selection. Thanks Eddie

Does the option not show up when you log off and select the session type in the login dialog? in my case i log in to console mode and type startx to run my session (in my case xfce4). i believe you can pass the window manager as an option to startx to start icewm. but also run wmlist to ensure that it shows up in the list of window managers (unless it is only present in the users profile). ganesh

Thanks Ganesh It does show up in wmlist. However, I think that there must be a bug somewhere because I've tried installing other display managers and they appear in the session type list. All seem to work except icewm. My colleague is going to submit a bug report. Eddie

Did you ever solve this? I have the same symptoms - icewm is installed and shows up when I run wmlist but it doesn't appear in the session type list before I login. I've been running gnome/metacity rather than KDE to date (and it's the icewm-gnome package that I've installed). I can't find anything with susehelp and haven't found anything useful with google. Thanks, Dave

I had this problem some months ago. If I remember correctly, there was no icewm.desktop file in /usr/share/xsessions I created one with these contents: [Desktop Entry] Encoding=UTF-8 Name=IceWM Comment=This session logs you into IceWM Exec=icewm-session Icon= Type=XSession which seemed to do the trick. -- Phil Driscoll

Many thanks, Phil - it worked for me too. Cheers, Dave
