[opensuse] WWAN works not when running on battery, only with AC

Hello, I am using a Lenovo X1 Carbon with internal Ericsson WWAN adapter (0bdb:1926). System is current Suse 12.2, the adapter works in combination with the NetworkManager out of the box - but only if the laptop is running on AC. If I unplug the power cord, I am not able to connect to the WWAN anymore. Googling gave me the hint that I should blacklist the adapter in the power management. Where can I do that? Any other ideas? Thanks in advance, Teja -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

View your logs. ALWAYS VIEW YOUR LOGS! In particular, see what events get logged as you remove and plug in the power adaptor. It won't give you the "Ah!" solution but it will give you hints and more to the point HARD EVIDENCE about what to look for. I don't think this is a 'blacklist the adaptor' issue so much a setting problem. When I was using KDE on my laptop there was a setting as to what should and should not be run in 'power saving' mode. Something under 'systemsettings' ... different activities perhaps. Try looking at the various options available to you; I'm sure there's one that controls what services are run where and when. -- By analogy, stealing cars and joyriding does not provide one with an education in mechanical Engineering, nor does pouring sugar in the gas tank. - Gene Spafford, on using crackers as security experts -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Hard to tell unless you show us your logs, if the devices goes kaput on AC unplug it probably means that there is a kernel bug and that your particular device must not use powersaving. Before going further, visit Lenovo support site and upgrade to the latest BIOS available if any. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
