[opensuse] BCM4321 network adapter
Has anyone else been able to get the BCM4321 adapter to work. In 11.2 I used the wl module from packman to get it to work and now it doesn't. If I had a choice I would rip this one out from the laptop but I don't have that option. Any suggestions on how to get it to work? -- Ken Schneider SuSe since Version 5.2, June 1998 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Hi, I don't know if this will work for the BCM4321, it is the instructions for a bcm4311 I had in a laptop that bit the dust. But this is what I did for it: Use yast to install b43-fwcutter package ~cd /usr/sbin #su #install_bcm43xx_firmware -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

That doesn't work with the 4321 chipset. Perhaps someone from packman can update the wl driver for the current kernel being installed. -- Ken Schneider SuSe since Version 5.2, June 1998 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

According to http://old-en.opensuse.org/HCL/Network_Adapters_%28Wireless%29/Broadcom_BCM4... if the pre-built rpm doesn't work, it's not too hard to recompile the src.rpm. ie. rpmbuild --rebuild broadcom-wl-<version>-<release>.src.rpm (if you have the listed dependencies installed) The wl rpm has always worked for me, so I've never tried to recompile it. I have the right packages from packman installed. Compared them them to the compiled ones and no go here. Worked in 11.2 but not in 11.3. wireless has been fscked up for a long time in openSUSE anyway. Even my older RA-Link card doesn't work anymore. Oh well, back to the drawing boards. -- Ken Schneider SuSe since Version 5.2, June 1998 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Packman has packages, and also some kernel module packages. Don' forget the latter. http://packman.links2linux.org/package/broadcom-wl/182219 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
