Hello Has anyone got the promise RAID controller working on Linux, preferably also during install? I'm thinking of buying a new PC with an ASUS K7T RAID motherboard (with onboard Promise RAID controller), and 2 IBM 30 GB disks in RAID 0 mode... but I think that requires that the card and RAID are operational during install... Thanks for any help! Kind regards Guy Van Sanden
I have tried unsuccessfully to get this controller working. I contacted
Promise tech support who forwarded me a driver they have produced for a RH
distro. It is supposed to work with kernel 2.2.16 but would not work for me.
I have a dual PII 450 board and I am running a SMp kernel. It may be
possible to get it working with your setup and I will be glad to forward it
if you wish.

IIRC, it's software raid card... the only "feature" of it is to boot the raid array. but if you're using the card's own drivers (not linux software raid) PS: the only difference between the promise raid and raid-less ide card is a resistor to enable the raid boot code (there is a page somewhere in the net explaining how to "hack" the board to change a raid-less card to a raid-enabled one) Regards, Adilson
