Hi List, I have finished installed Suse 6.1 and i noted that it's running pretty much slow some apps. Even Yast , Sax take a long time to start . What could this be ???? well, you could recompile the kernel, that will help, but i would get a newer kernel than what came with 6.1. get a 2.4.x series kernel source and compile it. is your hard drive capable of dma? if so, do this hdparm -d 1 -u 1 -c 1 -k 1 /dev/hda and see if that speeds it up any also, disable a lot of those services running you probably dont need (identd, nfsserver, portmap, nscd, etc) On Fri, 31 Aug 2001, [iso-8859-1] Gerson Sampaio wrote:
