Hello all: When I have filenames like these: name.ps, name-a.ps, name_a.ps, name_1.ps and nam.ps, and I list them alphabetically (by name) in konqueror or do an ls -l in a terminal window, they are sorted in this order: name_1.ps name_a.ps name-a.ps name.ps nam.ps which seems silly to me. I would like them to be listed as nam.ps name.ps name_1.ps name_a.ps name-a.ps How could I have them listed like that? It may seem silly, but it is how they are sorted. Even the unix 'sort' program sorts them this way: stephan@owl:~/tmp> cat foo name_a.ps name_1.ps name.ps name-a.ps n.ps nam.ps stephan@owl:~/tmp> sort foo name_1.ps name_a.ps name-a.ps name.ps nam.ps n.ps

i believe you could do it by: a) writing your own local support (in C++). b) hacking on the Konqueror source code to tell it to use your locale for sorting. i.e., there is no trivial way to do it, i believe. -- ----- stephan@s11n.net http://s11n.net "...pleasure is a grace and is not obedient to the commands of the will." -- Alan W.
