Ok, I'll guess.. What "server" version of Opensuse? I've not seen this. Hi Mike,

And what do you call the desktop kernel? I can find no "desktop" kernel. There is a default, and a pae kernel.. The server install pattern probably does not specify a specific kernel. The kernels are not that different though and if in doubt, just zypper in kernel-default and select it on reboot. Ciao, Marcus If I have got it right, there is until 11.2 a Linux kernel especially configured for desktop, while for servers you use the default kernel (or compile/modify it for yourself if you have enough time and would think its wise [patches?]) see: https://features.opensuse.org/305694
But I am sure that it would be great if there were an article on http://en.opensuse.org/Kernel - I searched the openSUSE 11.2 reference but could find only something about 32/64 kernel...
