[S.u.S.E. Linux] Questions about swap and routing

I have two completely unrelated questions (well they are both about suse linux). I noticed that when my swap partition gets initialized at boot up, it says it has a priority -1. What does that mean? I also noticed that my swap partition isn't being used (I checked with the "free" command and via the graphical utility that comes up in xwindows by default). Is that because of this priority -1? I just got a cable modem. It runs fine in win95, but I can't seem to get it running in linux. I am guessing I have the routing screwed up somehow. The thing is, I have a static IP so this should be easy. Let me give out the particulars. My IP = 24.3.25.87 subnetmask = 255.255.255.0 (Class A that is subnetted) Default Gateway = 24.3.25.1 DNS IP = 24.3.0.33, 24.3.0.34 DNS Name = CC372705-A Domain Name = catv1.md.home.com I set up route.conf like this: 24.3.25.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 eth1 (I have another nic that is eth0) default 24.3.25.1 255.255.255.0 eth1 when I looked at the route table, it shows that I am on the 24.3.25 network and the default gateway is 24.3.25.1. I figured that was all I needed, but I seem to be wrong. I can't ping anything on the outside world. I can't even ping the DNS in linux (I can in win95). What am I doing wrong?
