Thank you all for jour cooperation. I get the mysql proces running now. The other thing still is there :-( "Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' When I telnet the machine on port 3306 (Standard) it denies my call. Do you have access permissions for /var/lib/mysql ? Can you change into that directory?
