[opensuse] How do I get it back?
I clicked the red [X] next to my "My Computer" desktop icon (KDE 4), and it disappeared. I'm not sure what I was expecting - maybe just getting rid of the sidebar on the icon and allowing me to pack them closer together. But I think I'm going to miss "My Computer." Is there any way to get it back? I tried finding it among the available desktop widgets, but didn't see anything resembling it. There's a disposal wormhole attached to every PC for getting rid of stuff "once and for all and forever." That's where your icon went, so it is now physically impossible to get it back. You should be grateful that "Your Computer" (i.e., your physical computer) did not disappear into the disposal wormhole. Aren't you glad you weren't holding down the CTRL key when you click on that red [X]?
Thanks in advance for a clue!

In KDE4 all items on the desktop are widgets so it can be a bit confusing when you're used to a "regular" desktop.

The "My Computer" icon links to the Konqueror URL `sysinfo:/` and can also be accessed from the KDE menu Menu>Computer>System Information. Therefore, you can recreate it by going to the menu item, right-clicking it and selecting Add to Desktop. But I've attached a copy to this email since it's a pretty small file and you can just save that to your desktop :) h

Thanks, I should be able to replace it from there.

When I did that, I got a dialog saying that it's already there, and would I like to overwrite it. I canceled, and checked my desktop, but no "My Computer" widget. So I did it again and told it to overwrite. Still nothing. The tip about "sysinfo:/" should help a lot, though.
