When I do a cat /var/log/boot.msg >/dev/lp1, or an lpr /var/...

...

/dev/lp1 all that happens is the two lights which would normally indicate printing, go on. Absolutely nothing happens!

While in this "suspended" state of no-activity, a check of the print queue for lpr, ascii, and raw all show to be empty. Nothing there to print.

Need your help please..... any ideas or suggestions most welcome.
