Does 9.2 support SATA drives. I have a machine destined to be a fileserver with a monster 250Gb SATA drive which I'm just itching to load with SuSE either 9.0 or 9.2.. To my knowledge 9.0 does not support SATA, does 9.2? -- The SATA Little Helper ======================================================================== Hylton Conacher - Linux user # 229959 at http://counter.li.org Currently using SuSE 9.0 Professional with KDE 3.1 Licenced Windows user ========================================================================

What about 9.1? I haven't upgraded to 9.2 yet, but 9.1 ROCKS! I'm pretty sure that it supports SATA :-)

I have 2 x 160G Seagate's, and they work flawlessly. The system I am using currently was build about 6 weeks ago with very new hardware. When I installed 9.1 and 9.2 the only problem I had was with the brand-name less USB multi flashcard reader. After removing those cables, no problemo. Eric

I surely hope you meant "a couple of monster 250 GB SATA drives". I have bought a dozen or so 200+ GB drives in the last 2 years. I wold guess they last about 18 months before they die. So I would consider RAID a requirement if I were you. FYI: If you think your drive is better than that, check the warrenty.. I bet it is only 12 months, and there is a real reason for it being so short. Greg

9.1 did on a 250GB drive I have. Haven't loaded 9.2 yet but I assume it is still supported.

I have this combo: Board: P4C800E-Deluxe And it now plays along on all ATA /SATA devices offered from the motherboard 2x250GB SATA 2x200GB SATA And a couple of ATA drives 9.1 did demand you started of on ATA drives to go into "enhanced" (real) SATA mode. But not from 9.1 "scratch" only after updating. Johan
