Hi, I was wondering if anyone was able to connect his GSM phone to a Suse BOX. What I need to do is that whenever a specific event occurs on my Linux server, the system should be able to send an SMS to me with the attached mobile phone. I know that there are some companies like Lister, and a few others which have products based on Windows.. does anyone know of a Linux based GPL solution.. Okay I can restrict that to NOKIA phones.. Yes, me :) Siemens ME45, using "scmxx" and "gscmxx" (GUI tool). The phone is connected via the serial line.

That should be doable using the above mentioned tool.

Have a look at the following packages:
gammu
gnokii
gnokii-smsd
gscmxx
gsmssend
scmxx
smssend
xgnokii
All these can be found on the SuSE 8.2 DVD - I used "pin" with various
keywords to locate these packages.
Bye,
