Just a word to say I received just now this: http://fr.aliexpress.com/item/1pc-Mini-USB-WiFi-Wireless-802-11-n-g-b-150M-L... very cheap wifi usb dongle (1.53€ free postage to France!), and it worked out of the box (after config in YaST). Probably RTL 8188ETV Just notice I already installed in this computer an other Dlink dongle, so may be I already had some driver installed. This one is specially small. jdd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I tried a similar gadget some time ago, from Asus. It worked initially, but soon I noticed problems. Not that the connection dropped, but some kind of kernel problem, I don't remember the details. There was a bugzilla... ah, yes, "[Bug 836220] WiFi dies and kernel oopses". Nasty one, unsolved. I have that machine on wire, which is probably better, anyway. It is my acting server. Looks a little like the D-Link DWA 121, except for the price: http://www.pcp.ch/D-Link-Wireless-N-150-Micro-USB-Adapter-1a15828673.htm This one is RTL8188CUS. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (8.5°C) http://www.dns24.ch/ - free dynamic DNS, made in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

An FYI: I bought an ASUS usb-n-13 after seeing that it was ok with Linux compatability. Its performance was very irritating... sometimes it would stop working and the "sometimes" could be anywhere from a few minutes to a day. A reset of the networking would make it work again. It was not until I installed wicked did the problem stop. It has been running flawlessly now for months. I only tested it with wicked, no problem so far jdd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
