Hi List. I've a Compaq Presario 1700 Series 470XL and I've installed Suse 7.0. I've some problems with IRQ on Eth. I want ask you if you know some DOCs or sites, when I can find more information. Moreover, Can you tell me the procedure to change IRQ on my Linux Box? For example I've the eth0 on IRQ n°9 and I want change to IRQ 3. Many thanks Bye Ste

Most peripheral cards include software to change configuration. Unfortunately, most, but not all, are for DOS/WinXX OSs. If your chips are on the motherboard you can use the BIOS. But, in your example of changing an eth0 card from IRQ=9 to IRQ=3 I doubt if that is possible. The card probably doesn't have 3 (which is the usually IRQ of the COM4 serial port) in it's range of acceptible IRQ values. Also, IRQ and IOPORT adresses are usually somewhat paired (lp0 - 0x378 & IRQ=7) by convention. Check out /etc/modules.conf to see how ioport and irq assignments can be changed on hardware that allows such changes. JLK
