Hi everyone. My employees used to xp at home and in their previous position can't cope with 4.0, nor 4.1 beta. They just can't do it. I can read what it is supposed to be able to do (http://www.kde.org/announcements/announce-4.1-beta2.php) but is there a list of its and aims and objectives apart from looking drop dead gorgeous? Drag and drop to and from the desktop for example? Several list members have asked but there seems no one who knows. July 29, ojala. Saludos. Seems that most of the KDE3 functionality won't be available until 4.2. I'm running KDE3 & KDE4 on 2 consoles(using startx -- :1 puts it on Ctrl-Alt-F8). To me, I see what I consider a slowdown BECAUSE of the eye candy. Haven't tried turing it all off yet tho. KDE3 works the way I expect, and I find myself just using it instead. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Neat. Never thought of that. As ever, it requires staff training. Loosely tanslated that means it's my round every lunchtime for 2 days. Worth it for getting the moaners off my back. Thanks. Lynn, Why on earth are you using a brand-new system on an essential business system? I can understand wanting to test it, and even wanting to contribute to its development and refinement, but you shouldn't be doing that at the expense of your business operations. Just install kde3 beside kde4, and you and your employees can do real work when you have to, and help the kde people when you have time. Given your problems with the Wacom, I'm surprised you're still struggling with kde4. Did you ever get the Wacom problem solved? You know it works under kde3, so until someone can get it fixed for you you should use kde3. I have kde3 and kde4 installed side by side, and after struggling with kde4, I returned to kde3. I'm not expert enough to understand what I'm seeing, and not diligent enough to spend hours troubleshooting when I see so many others having problems. When the complaints have died down for a while, I'll go back and try to get up to speed on kde4. And contribute trouble reports when it's likely I can really help. Hi John. I put the Wacom on a box I'd not upgraded to 11.0. And yes. I suppose it's my curiosity to have a look at new stuff. I had an awful time trying to justify openoffice under Linux and I just thought that 11.0 may just shut the moaners up. I'm going for the side by side install. Thanks for your input. Put on desktop widget Folder View. (right click Add Widget) Make it as large as you want. (it doesn't work right now) In Folder View settings say that it is a desktop folder and it will point to Desktop directory. From now on you can move icons to and from it, start programs, just as you used to do with classic desktop that was covering whole screen. The only disadvantage is that you can have 10 desktop folders if you want. Programs that are used to download files on desktop, actually Desktop directory, will do the same in a widget that is pointing to Desktop.
