RE: [SLE] Odd "Kernel Too Big" Message
He already did this if you read his post....... Try a full "make mrproper" to fully flush the fluff from the previous compiles & retry. I'm not sure if you need to explicitly install bzip/bunzip to do "make bzlilo", I'd assume if it was required it'd be in with the rpm dependencies. If the problems continue it may be an idea to uninstall the source & reinstall afresh. -----Original Message----- From: Alexey Volovoy [SMTP:alexey@orimail.com] Sent: Wednesday, December 29, 1999 3:30 PM To: Dennis Soper Cc: suse-linux-e@suse.com Subject: Re: [SLE] Odd "Kernel Too Big" Message Hello, Dennis Soper wrote:
Hi all,
I just built a kernel for a Toshiba laptop and got a "kernel too big" message when I ran LILO, so I tried to make bzImage and got the same message. I thought this was rather odd, as this kernel is *considerably* smaller than the stock kernel. Anyone know what might be going on here? I've built lots of kernels and have never gotten this message before.
^^^^ This message you'll see then you compiled too many features in kernel. Now it's recommended ( read book from SuSE or it's pdf image in docu directory) to make bzImage . Best Regads ALexey

bzImage means big zImage. It's got nothing to do with bzip. Ciao, Stefan -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
