[opensuse] USB MODEM
Hi all, I want to buy a USB MODEM and wanted to ask if anyone has had such experience. I have read very disappointing stories about USB devices not working with Linux systems. But I have experienced external DVD drive and USB memory which work fine with OpenSUSE. Any tip would be appreciated. Thanks, Danesh -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I have used wired (?) and wireless (Huawei E220) USB modems with openSuSE. My advice is to search for a controller-based modem, that is that accepts directly "AT" commands, otherwise you will need to install modem drivers (see http://www.linmodems.org). You could use then wvdial or knetworkmanager (configure first your modem with yast). -- Bogdan Cristea software engineer Sytron Technologies Overseas www.sytron.ro -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
