Hi, I have a suse 8.0 machine sitting on my tcp/ip network. I have been unable to get it to print via my novell server - novell printers so want to set it up to print via tcp/ip to a printer I have enabled for this. If I go into Printer Manager and add a new printer, select Windows TCP/IP, scan the network, add the printer ip address which is found no problem, enter the port and click next, it asks me for the correct driver, but there's nothing in there it is emtpy. I can select postscript driver but it gives an error saying no driver available or I can click Raw printer, which it accepts but when I goto test it says it cannot create a temp printer. How can I get the correct driver to appear in the box? Am I going a long way round doing this? Seems really hard to set printers up in linux.... Regards Damian Buckley

Are you using CUPs? Have you tried using YAST2 to set it up? I have several TCP/IP printers running, some PS and some not but I am using 8.2 and am not a CUPs expert. But YAST2 set them up for me without much of a problem. -- +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ + Bruce S. Your question was worded so hastily that I can not figure out where the printer is actually connected. Are you saying you have a printer connected to a novell server? If so, it matters quite a bit which version of novell. Or Does this printer have a tcp/ip port (like jet-direct) card and directly into the ethernet? Cups can handle either, but we need a little specificity here. -- _____________________________________ John Andersen
