Dealing with my video mode problem on my new Dell laptop has led me to wonder about how Yast's facilities for setting video parameters relate to those of Sax2. Are they just two different approaches? According to Darryl Gregorash's comment, if I understand it right, there are things you can do with Sax2 that you can't do with Yast -- like setting the vertical frequency. I couldn't find a way to do that in Yast, though I could find a way to specify a range of frequencies. Paul

!WARNING! To my knowledge Sax2 detects the hardware and can set some limited parameters whereas Yast does a little bit of detection but mostly is used for configuring the hardware detected by Sax2. /WARNING! The above is open to correction if it is wrong. -- ======================================================================== Hylton Conacher - Linux user # 229959 at http://counter.li.org Currently using SuSE 9.0 Professional with KDE 3.1 ========================================================================

I can't find where I was mucking with specific scan frequencies, but I was able to somewhere in SaX2. If all else fails, check out the xmode program.
