SuSE 8.2 - Samba is sharing, but not visible in "My Network Places"
I have a (only) slightly modified (from the default 8.2 install) smb.conf which is happily sharing a couple of directories to my windows machines. However it does not appear in the workgroup on the right hand side of the explorer (tree on the left). If I type in the machine name in the address bar \\spike it does appear in the tree panel, but still not on the details. Does samba need to be set up to browse master for this to happen? Tim

You have to have the nmb service running as well. smb doesn't announce itself, it merely makes the shares available. Hans
