Hello SuSE people, Not really a SuSE question but IS a part of my OS. My wife loves Pysol. However, while it is playing it makes god-awful buzzing sound while it is running. It surely is that I have not installed Pysol-sound-server, not that I haven't tried by compiling the tar package. Anyway, I don't care about Pysol playing music/sounds while it is running. She prefers classical streaming music from the web using Amarok anyway. So, the question is: Can anyone tell me how to disable sound in Pysol? Thanks, Bob S. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Thanks, Bob S. take your pick...
1) turn your powered speakers off 2) mute the appropriate channel on your mixer 3) unplug the speak jack 4) neoprene ear plugs? 5) BOSE noise dead headphones attached to a real stereo system 6) allow your cat to chew on your speaker wires... this actually happen to me 7) install your wife's system on an HP slimline with proprietary hardware which requires proprietary audio drivers which Novell refuses to ship.... 8) plug your speaker plug into the mic jack 9) place each speaker into a coffee can full of water 10) Install a "cone of silence" over your chair.... Thanks, Bob S. ... just trying to be funny Bob...
... in all seriousness, I have my two den pc's (wife's and mine) plugged into a Radio Shack four port mixer (hardware board) which then drives the JVC power amp which in turn drives the wall mounted BOSE set... when we want pc sounds (not often) we slide the mixer to pc and down goes the FM station... and when we're sick of pc sounds... up comes NPR, and off go the clicks and boinks and bonks ... I turn my sound up for Tux Racer... my daughter and I find it easier to get all the tuna with the sound on... otherwise, its usually on NPR.... -- Kind regards, M Harris <>< -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Maybe, your pysol's package inludes pysolsoundserver.so, as well. If so, remove it. Regards, --- Masaru Nomiya mail-to: nomiya @ galaxy.dti.ne.jp "Bill! You married with Computers. Not with Me!" In Pysol's menu choose Options, Sound and adjust to your tastes. When I click OK, Pysol usually crashes but a restart shows the settings are saved. -- Stan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

BTW, this is not OT. It's a perfectly legitimate technical question. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
