Thanks a lot, David, for your extensive comments on redialing via request-route.

I got 2 further problems in this respect, were I hope for your ideas:

1) Problem using request-route: I managed to get your dial-on-demand-recipe (www.xnet.com/~efflandt/linux) via /sbin/request-route working only by using the obsolescent pppd-Option '+ua /etc/ppp/kla.secret' within request-route. When I delete this and put login and password into the chat.XXX -file instead, it will dial, but switch the modem off immediately after connection. /Var/log/messages will then say: ... pppd[599]: Serial line is looped back. ... pppd[599]: sent [LCP TermAck id=0x6] pppd[599]: rcvd [LCP TermAck id=0x6] pppd[599]: Connection terminated.

I cannot use two chat.xxx -Scripts this way ... Any thoughts ?

2) Linux-ppp-Server for Win95/NT4.0:

My ppp-server-setup according to www.xnet.com/~efflandt/linux/dialin.txt and SuSE's /usr/doc/support-db/sdb/ppp-server.html resulted in the following deadlock:

With LINUX-ppp-clients I can logon fine.

WinNT4.0 as a client will establish the ppp-connection as well. The windows DUN connect box as well as ifconfig on the linux server will show the ppp0 interface with the correct IP-addresses of the other maschine. However a ping on WinNT results only in timeouts, a ping on the linux server seems to hang. Nonetheless I can observe the WinNT client count
