I haven't seen Yoshimi officially in TW. I use edogawas repo. And 2.2.0 is old. It's 2.3.0.3 that is the latest.
2.3.0.3 is there for both leap & tw https://software.opensuse.org/package/yoshimi I installed 2.3.0.3 and now the same error just reads Yoshimi-2.3.0.3 cannot be started :-)) -- Giving women the vote was long overdue but that delay also guaranteed the predictably overshooting swing to left which followed it. Well these are still all experimental which sometimes doesn't help with stability especially when there are rebuilds of other things. -- Simon Lees (Simotek) http://simotek.net Emergency Update Team keybase.io/simotek SUSE Linux Adelaide Australia, UTC+10:30 GPG Fingerprint: 5B87 DB9D 88DC F606 E489 CEC5 0922 C246 02F0 014B

If a newer version produces the same error as the earlier one then that's not a likely cause though, even less so if both of them run fine on other systems. I *am* very new to Yoshimi but at this level the amount of damage that I can manage hasn't started yet :-) Sometimes I think there is not enough testing, if depends are satisfied and the app launches then it goes up on the repos (ND some should expand their depens lists though). I wonder if automatic error reporting to the devs would not be a better idea then bugzilla, I mean what *percentage* of users resort to bugzila (for any number of valid reasons)?

Isn't it a kernel problem? In my case, after the kernel was updated to 6.4.11, VirtualBox became unusable and I upgraded it as a solution. Now, when I install rosegarden, I get a message that I can't understand, "Performane probledms detected, System timer resolution is too low! I mean, I have added threadirqs to the kernel parameter, so there shouldn't be a problem with system timer resolution.... If you can, why don't you try reverting the kernel to a previous version? I don't get those problems with the same kernel; vbox runs w7 if I want it and RG starts but is ubusable with ZASF, s=didn't use any special kernel params though.
If you can, why don't you try reverting the kernel to a previous version?
That can bring about other issues -- AI is upon us and could exterminate what is human quality in our lives so the fight is ON! Laws in every country MUST require producers of goods and services using AI to publicly declare that fact up front prior to EVERY sale, application or delivery. But this will not happen because AI is already defending against it, just try!

I can't understand your cryptic RES at all, but in essence you are saying that you can't hear any sound coming from rosegarden. Sure, $ timidity -iA && rosegaden doesn't produce any sound. But if I do $ fluidsynth -a alsa /usr/share/sounds/sf2/FluidR3_GM.sf2 && rosegarden the midi file plays fine. Then, start qsynth and go to setup --> Soundfons, and enter this; /usr/share/sounds/sf2/FluidR3_GM.sf2. I think this might be the solution. Sorry, I should be more detailed and specific and watch my spelling; after all THAT's what I keep asking from others :-)) I was just responding to the other poster's issues with what he suspected were caused by the kernel as used with the cited arguments ie. that I don't have those problems and don't use those kernel arguments. I added that rosegarden starts OK for me but that in the subject OS it is unusable (I see your concern as opposed to uBusable/aBusable) because it doesn't present ZASF-dssi instruments without which it is useless to me when I want to compose with ZynAdSubFZ plugins. Thanks for the explanation, there are times when it is but these days 'no sound from rosegarden' isn't my peeve.
