HI. I am having problems with my SuSE 8.2. Every now and again the taskbar crashes (very windows 95). It pops back up within seconds, but never the less it does crash. Also my X server freezes (keyboard/mouse) when I switch to the F10 (var/log/messages) console the back again. It hasn't crashed the box, just the keyboard/mouse doesn't work (external ones don't work either). Wondered if this was a Nvidia driver bug (I have a Gforce2 latest drivers). Has anybody else experienced this. I never had any problems with SuSE 8.1 Do you think it is worth re-installing KDE 3 because it was not updated with SuSE 8.2 (my version was later). It therefore is running the KDE 3.1 compiled for SuSE 8.1 and not 8.2. On a positive note, I have just got a firewire card for my PC card slot. It works great and my firewire CD drive is working perfectly. However, if I wasn't a linux user, I wouldn't know, because although it popped up saying it had been detected, and it set it up in Yast2, it didn't add an entry in /etc/fstab. I had to do it manually. Not a problem, just something SuSE needs to work on if they are aiming for the beginners. I had multiple crashes/freezes when Sax2 was testing my video display modes and the other day, I decided to go into Sax2 to see if I could fix this. This resulted in my video card being stuck at a lower resolution, and it wouldn't go back to 1600*1800 however hard I tried ( I think the LCD was not set up correctly). It works now, in full screen mode, however I do get these crashes. Just as a point on the slash screen, why dont they put 'SuSE 8.2 linux'? My USB drives now all work, which is very good news. However imici (www.imici.com) doesn't work and come up with a segmentation fault everytime u try to sign in (it sits there fine as long as u don't sign in). I have tried deleting the confiuration files and starting from scratch, but it still does it. I can't understand it. I have a nice sticker on my laptop now, which came with the CDs :D
