[opensuse] sudden problems with firefox address bar
This touches all user accounts, whether plugins present or not. You cannot open an address via the address bar. You can open all bookmarks without problems. You cannot search (and the search selection is shown empty) You can search on default search page of opensuse. What ever you get as result you can open it by clicking on it. No, but that may be because I'm using a different version of Firefox.
it can be because an update was made and firefox not restarted jdd -- http://dodin.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Works for me. You don't say which version you're using. I've got 52.7.0 (64-bit) with Leap 42.3.
You cannot open an address via the address bar.
I can.
You can open all bookmarks without problems. You cannot search (and the search selection is shown empty)
What search selection?
You can search on default search page of opensuse. What ever you get as result you can open it by clicking on it.

Is that Leap or TW? What did you do before? Try with a new user. This is leap 42.3 with standard repos firefox from standard. I am using Italian local language.
The problems are: searchbar (that is the little window right to the address bar), does not react and does not offer any search machine. The address bar does not react if you are typing and then press return. This does hit all existing preexisting users and is apparently subsequently to the recent updates. I will try now Patricks suggestion with a profile. What I tried: to reset firefox to uninstall manually all extension to start in safe mode (only thing that currently works). to start in different existing users with different /home accounts. All users are hit by this, plugins or not, even there is a user that never had plugins, same same. _________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________ Ihre E-Mail-Postfcher sicher & zentral an einem Ort. zypper ps If there is something listed, reboot. Otherwise. In that new user, create file .i18n and change language to LANG=en_US.utf8 then log out an in again. If the language doesn't change to English, perhaps that desktop you use has a different method. Use it. Once the language is changed to English, start FF again and see. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. don't have and never had a problem like that - neither on Leap nor on Tumbleweed. Any chance, that your last update didn't finish correctly? What if you'd run zypper up again?
