[opensuse] Converting from firefox to chrome(ium)
Has anyone made this conversion successfully. I tried it earlier today and met with problems a) importing the settings from firefox at all! Only a limited part of the bookmarks came though, what was on the menu bar. None of my daily snapshots came though. I don't know about forms etc. I never got that far. b) I had a backup/bookmarks of my current tabs and imported just that and tried opening them all. The tabs were unreadable compared to FF, and I could not get any of them to actually display. After a while the load factor crept up into the 50s. I've never had it that high on Linux before. It renders the machine unusable. So whatever shortcomings FF has I don't see that I can replace it with Chrome. What am I doing wrong? What am I missing? -- A: Yes. > Q: Are you sure? >> A: Because it reverses the logical flow of conversation. >>> Q: Why is top posting frowned upon? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I've never had a problem importing bookmarks, but its been a long time since I tried doing that, and I use Google Chrome, not Chromium. Not only did it import all my bookmarks, but it maintained my organizational structure and folders. If you are trying to import currently open tabs from a running firefox, that may be problematic. Also Chrome tries to pre-load linked pages in the background for better performance, (somehow guessing which one you might load next). This can really bog down a machine if you suddenly open 30 tabs. I just turn that feature off in the settings. -- After all is said and done, more is said than done. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
