SV: [SLE] Login sqlplus for Oracle
Shouldn't you specify the DB? (I.e use "system@SAMPLE" as the username.) (Sometimes I've found I need to include the Oracle domain, too, i.e. "system@SAMPLE.WHATEVER".) /Lennart -----Ursprungligt meddelande----- Från: jayhen [mailto:jayhen@wanadoo.nl] Skickat: den 15 mars 2001 16:27 Till: suse Ämne: [SLE] Login sqlplus for Oracle I'm unable to and never have accessed sqlplus for Oracle after the installation. | ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel You really need to get hold of the online documentation (distributed with SuSE or available through Oracle's website). You really can't do without if you start experimenting with Oracle. ORA-03113 end-of-file on communication channel Cause: An unexpected end-of-file was processed on the communication channel. The problem could not be handled by the Net8, two task, software. This message could occur if the shadow two-task process associated with a Net8 connect has terminated abnormally, or if there is a physical failure of the interprocess communication vehicle, that is, the network or server machine went down. In addition, this message could occur when ALTER SYSTEM KILL SESSION or ALTER SYSTEM DISCONNECT SESSION were issued with the IMMEDIATE qualifier because, in those cases, the client's connection to the database is terminated without waiting for the client to issue a request. Action: If this message occurs during a connection attempt, check the setup files for the appropriate Net8 driver and confirm Net8 software is correctly installed on the server. If the message occurs after a connection is well established, and the error is not due to a physical failure, check if a trace file was generated on the server at failure time. Existence of a trace file may suggest an Oracle internal error that requires the assistance of customer support. I am running a character based application called filePro. Periodically, at different places in the program and at different intervals, the session freezes (just that one session) and the only way to get it going again is to press CTRL-C. No other codes work. I run it in xterm from an X-Station, telneted in using Powerterm, from a Wyse55 terminal hooked in by a Digiboard and on the main console (ALT-F1 character mode). This happens in all of the above. It occurs on multiple machines with SuSE 6.4 and SuSE 7.0. Anyone have any thoughts at all? Greg Engel
For 8i use connect internal/manager@yourSID or connect internal/change_on_install@yourSID note change_on_install is the actual password!! or same as above without a SID the end-of-file on communication channel is saying your network connection has been dropped I dont think it has anything to do with your username and password or it could be a generic message to the effect that sql+ couldnt connect;-( do you know where your PFILE is eg init.ora? should be in a dir called PFILE then you can set oracle_sid=mySID
svrmgrl
connect username/password shutdown immediate startup pfile=/path/to/parameterfile/init.ora ....starting database..... hth rob Lennart Börjeson wrote:
