[opensuse] I have to encrypt my messages now?
This should have been turned on on a per-user, as-needed basis. Have you ever heard of "collateral damage"? It tends to rub people the wrong way. Hi, this is the mommymail program managing the <open[sic]suse@opensuse.org> mailing list. The message from you with subject "Another example of deliberate pistemd supporters deliberately sabotaging previously working software..." has been submitted to the list. However, the moderators are being asked to review it before releasing it to the list because of an access rule. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

It seems something has made you angry but from your mail, I can't decode what happened. The different parts ("encrypt", "collateral damage", and the forwarded mail below) don't seem to be related to each other. Maybe tell us the whole story as it happened and we may be able to help. Regards,

I think she tried to write a post with the systemð word in it, and the automatic filters blocked the post saying it had to await moderation. That word was used in awful flames not that long ago, so the posts are automatically stopped. (Notice that I had to modify the spelling to get through, the 'ð' is a 'd') -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 13.1 x86_64 "Bottle" at Telcontar)

They are not 'stopped', they are held for moderation. Really, though, this is because the naysayers were too vitriolic. No, quite often they are simply stopped, and never see the light of day. Whoever is responsible for the moderation often falls behind and just dumps the lot of the pending messages. I've had this happen a couple of times when asking "how to" questions about certain topics. We seem to be able to rant off topic about Windows 10 for weeks at a time, but God forbid we mention certain words in posts. Since this is supposed to be a "community" list, it would be nice if the list of verboten words we posted somewhere, so there were no secret rules. -- Sent from my Android phone with K-9 Mail. I'm not sure what the lesson is that the word for a critical component is sanctioned but vitriolic naysayers aren't? That's a WTF moment. I'm virtually certain I've used that word and haven't been blocked but I'll do a test and see. It's 12:03 local as I'm clicking send on this. I'll reply to list immediately afterward with the word in the reply and see if they get to the list at the same time as they should. -- Chris Murphy -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Yes, the word is systemd.
OK either it's not held for moderation. Or it's the fasted moderator clearing ever. -- Chris Murphy -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

But maybe it has to go in the subject line. I don't know, sometimes I faced delays of hours in a post with that word, other times no delay at all. It has to be a combination of factors, but I'm not going to try to guess them precisely ;-) -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 13.1 x86_64 "Bottle" at Telcontar)

I suspect it is a combination of multiple instances, or maybe a list of senders who aren't allowed to mention certain topics. The delay can be hours, or days, or forever. Perhaps depending on who is on vacation. I've usually received a awaiting moderation notice when this occurs. -- Sent from my Android phone with K-9 Mail. I've just added to this thread with that magic work on the subject line and promptly got a automated message telling me it was being held for moderation. Carlos, your theory appears to be correct. I just replied to a message in this thread with that word added to the subject line and received the following: Hi, this is the Mlmmj program managing the <opensuse@opensuse.org> mailing list. Jeez. That's a bad policy. Baby and bathwater. Words are not disruptive, people are. If people can't follow list guidelines, embargo all their emails. +1 I remember seeing Scott McNealy onstage at JavaOne punning that "Java Won". Systemd won as well; all the major distros have switched to it at this point. If individual posters are still behaving like children about it, they should be moderated individually. It's time to move on and learn how to use systemd, and if subject lines containing the word are moderated, it's only making that more difficult. -- Glenn Holmer (Linux registered user #16682) "After the vintage season came the aftermath -- and Cenbe." -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
