Hi, I have just installed RTCW, Quake III, under SuSE 8, - also fresh installed - and I have no sound. The rest of the sound it is working great, mp3, mplayer, etc, all but these two games. If I am runing Winex, these two games are sound, so only native executables are broken... How to fix that ?
You might be using arts, which occupies the sound device. To fix this, go to the KDE Control Center, then Sound, Soundserver and set automaticly disable (or something like that) to a less number of seconds (I have set it to one). This is the minimum time that should be between hearing a sound through arts and running a game. I translated the Control Center stuff from dutch so it might not be 100% correct. You have to add a line at the top of your quake3 and rtcw init scripts. kill -9 artsd This fix is posted on quakeworld.com under sound problems in the quake3 faq. John primariatalmaciu@directnet.ro wrote:
