Updating the kernel using apt.
Hi Folks Installed apt last night and am currently upgrading a lot of software. I note that the kernel is included in this, and am a little nervous about this. Will there be any surprises....do I have to mkinit_rd and adjust my bootloader, or is this done automatically? Best Regards Brian

Hi Brian, Where have you gotten these apt packages from If I may ask? Does apt on Suse update the rpm db or has it a separate package accounting? Thanks, Guy.

Hi Brian,

http://linux01.gwdg.de/apt4rpm/home.html#contents # zgrep k_deflt pkg-9.0 | grep -v \;src k_deflt;2.4.21-121;i586;mantel-kernel k_deflt;2.4.21-144;i586;base k_deflt;2.4.21-144;i586;update
Does apt on Suse update the rpm db or has it a separate package accounting? Apt calls rpm to actually install the rpms => apt on Suse updates the rpm db. Apt is nothing more than a manager around rpm.
