Converting EXT2 to ReiserFS: Recommendations?
I have a 20GB drive (about 32% occupied) that I would like to convert / from EXT2 to ReiserFS. I would like to do an "in place" conversion, if possible, as I don't have a spare partition or drive and backing up the entire / partition externally would be difficult (though possible). I did a Google search and didn't find any recent information (newer than early 2002) that indicated this can be done. Can anyone recommend steps to do this, or something similar. Thanks, Jim

Don't think it is possible to do an 'in place' conversion. There are no tools for that that I am aware of. -- +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ + Bruce S. Here's something similar -- converting to ext3 "in place." http://www.troubleshooters.com/linux/ext2toext3.htm Regards, Jim On Thu, 2003-12-04 at 16:37, Jim Cunning wrote:

Converting ext2 to ext3 is an easy task.... because ext3 is nothing more than an ext2 system with a journal added. "No data was harmed in this conversion..." :-)
